Culinary Arts Program Application
If you have a strong passion for the food industry, our Culinary Arts program is for you! This innovative hands-on training will get you prepared for a rewarding career in the culinary industry. Whether you dream of owning your own culinary or hospitality business, putting on large catering events or crafting unique gourmet experiences or dinners in a fine dining restaurant, we can provide you with the training and relationships you need to make it a reality.
The Culinary Arts Program is a 15 week highly focussed program designed for aspiring culinary professionals with a passion for food who are looking for something more than the traditional, classroom-based culinary education program. You will work hands-on in the kitchen with expertly skilled professional chefs that will provide you with the tools needed to succeed in the hospitality industry.

Recommended Criteria:
High school diploma or equivalent, working knowledge of computers and access to a computer and the Internet are highly recommended.
Students are required to sign a waiver of liability due to cooking equipment that will be utilized in the kitchen.
Location:
Our classes will take place at the City of Refuge facility, renowned for its state-of-the-art teaching kitchen. You'll find us primarily in the professional designed catering kitchen classroom.

Sanitation basics while preparing for the ServSafe® exam

Industry tools, equipment and food science

Learning Knife skills

How to make stocks, soups and sauces

Meat, poultry, fruits, vegetables and herb identification

Garde manger (keeper of the food) duties & Mise en Place

Baking, plating and presentation
Apprenticeship Locations:
Your apprenticeships may consist of working at multiple locations during the program which may include:

Working at different locations provides hands-on experience in a variety of food service environments. These experiences often result in the cultivation of important connections as well as valuable experience for resumes.
